Haha, that’s rich. A book is probably one of the few things that solar cells can draw enough energy to power. Seriously though, the Haitians have been exposed to Christianity, and, like everyone else, I’m sure they’ve made their choice yay or nay. I do kind of wonder if these solar bibles will be broadcasting in English…
And what are atheists doing to help those people in Haiti?
The haitians want to praise the Lord. They want their Bibles but they are damaged or lost.
Perhaps, but I imagine that their priority is to help, especially where most Haitians are already Christian.
Yes, they feel like they’re the ones helping when in reality its more of the people who dare to question authority that are really spreading the word and donating.
What do you care? After reading your blog, and reading all your questions you seem EXTREAMLY heartless. So why do you care?
P.S: My point was made, Its 12:00 and your STILL ON HERE. Get a life
You do know most Haitians are christians right
It is disgusting that missionaries use peoples suffering to try to force religion on them ( I don’t know if any are doing it in this particular case, but there is a history of help being contingent on conversion), even worse haiti is a Catholic country. Most of the missionaries are simply trying to convert them to a different flavor of Christianity, as if god would care. .
American Christians have always exploited people in dire need. It’s the basis of the American mission.
And as for the idiots who asked what atheists are doing, all you have to do is turn on the tv and see people of all beliefs working side-by-side to help. The difference is that the atheists aren’t demanding something in return, thereby exploiting people in need.
"Haitians are devout Christians. Surveys have shown that nearly 75 percent of recent immigrants to South Florida attend church at least once a week. In a striking departure from the denominational makeup of Haiti, where some 80 to 85 percent of the residents are Catholic, nearly 40 percent of Haitian Americans are Protestant. Storefront churches abound in Little Haiti and a few Protestant congregations have had explosive growth. One Baptist church has converted a huge, former textile plant in Little Haiti into an impressive house of worship."
If they are already Christian I see it as helping the poor that never learned to read!
They will use any opportunity to proselytize, yes. However, the vast majority of Haitians are already Christian, regardless of the nonsense Pat Robertson spews.
You’d be surprised to know how many have not heared the true message of Christianity, even in America.
Why do you have such animosity towards Christians? I have never seen a question from you that did not include bashing Christians. Many of us are really nice people with good morals and love our family. I am a good friend and do a lot of volunteer work in addition to working part time for my church. Am I perfect, no but I don’t think you are either.
I find it interesting that use use the word "advantage"? Explain what "advantage" we are getting or taking of the Haitian people in giving them Bibles, telling them of the love of God and comforting them in the times of sorrow and loss? You’re pathetic. It’s a historical fact that Christians have always proselytize, but then there are many Christians already there so what’s proselytizing got to do with it? It just shows how biased and unrealistic you are in your concepts of what it means to say: Jesus loves you, or: your loved one is with Jesus in heaven and is no longer suffering. Just because atheists have no concept of what it means to offer comfort to someone and have no answers for them except to say oh well, whatever will be will be, does not mean that other people don’t either. I am ashamed of you as a fellow human being, that you would be so biased and narrowminded against Christians, who by the way happened to donate a major portion of the charity that this country produces to help other nations. That you would actually make an issue of this is disgusting.
For your information an "advantage" is as you used the word, is when you take something from somebody; taking advantage of their situation to use them or to steal or rob from them. Please try to learn the English language and comprehend the actual meaning of what you’re trying to say. Simple answer: NO … we aren’t taking advantage of them by giving them Bibles and telling them of the love of God and of their hope in him. What a pathetic example of bigotry you’ve just shown us doing the very things you accuse others of, how sad.
They believe in voodoo and all that kinds of stuff, no wonder they so primitive and have so many problems. Even on the surface they say they are Christian the underlying culture is steeped in voodoo worship.
Leaving that and transforming to Christianity would be 100 times better than what they have now, you should support that instead of going against it.
Of course they are. The people in Haiti need food and water not Bibles. Christians are sujch friggin morons. And to the guy that asked what are atheist doing? Donatin money to the Red Cross and other organizations.
So bite me.
I have worked with lepers, in disaster areas, with aid agencies and in charities to help the poor and disadvantaged. I was a director of several charities, deputy chairman of two and also did a certain amount of voluntary work!!
Now I am retired I do a certain amount of consultancy – for free – with charities and also do a little voluntary work.
Sadly we lost some great workers and had to move others due to the christian bullying and threats of hell and damnation. But far worse was the problem of christians proselytizing which led to so many aid workers getting kidnapped and killed!! Now thankfully all the aid agencies have a binding code of conduct but it still has not stopped the bullying entirely!!
These so called christians are not giving aid they are abusing the poorest people in the greatest need!!!
That’s common practice wherever disaster strikes.
Seems to me like they say, "we’ll give them food and then we’ll tell them if they want continued support, they have to get babtised and such." It appears to me that they tell them the food is from God and they need to pay with devotion. I don’t know.
