Haha, that's rich. A book is probably one of the few things that solar cells can draw enough energy to power. Seriously though, the Haitians have been exposed to Christianity, and, like everyone else, I'm sure they've made their choice yay or nay. I do kind of wonder if these solar bibles will be broadcasting in English...

The haitians want to praise the Lord. They want their Bibles but they are damaged or lost.

Perhaps, but I imagine that their priority is to help, especially where most Haitians are already Christian.

It is disgusting that missionaries use peoples suffering to try to force religion on them ( I don't know if any are doing it in this particular case, but there is a history of help being contingent on conversion), even worse haiti is a Catholic country. Most of the missionaries are simply trying to convert them to a different flavor of Christianity, as if god would care. .

American Christians have always exploited people in dire need. It's the basis of the American mission.

And as for the idiots who asked what atheists are doing, all you have to do is turn on the tv and see people of all beliefs working side-by-side to help. The difference is that the atheists aren't demanding something in return, thereby exploiting people in need.

"Haitians are devout Christians. Surveys have shown that nearly 75 percent of recent immigrants to South Florida attend church at least once a week. In a striking departure from the denominational makeup of Haiti, where some 80 to 85 percent of the residents are Catholic, nearly 40 percent of Haitian Americans are Protestant. Storefront churches abound in Little Haiti and a few Protestant congregations have had explosive growth. One Baptist church has converted a huge, former textile plant in Little Haiti into an impressive house of worship."

If they are already Christian I see it as helping the poor that never learned to read!
